Alice began her artistic education at Manchester Metropolitan University, doing a BA(Hons) in History of Art and Design. Then doing a PGCE in Secondary Art & Design Teaching at the Institute of Education, University of Central London. Alice taught in the UK, Qatar and Dubai, before returning to the UK to live in Devon with her husband and 2 children. She began working full time as an artist in her home studio, before opening Mill Street Gallery in Bideford town centre in 2020. She has recently closed the Mill Street Gallery and now works from a home studio, exhibiting in regular exhibitions and art fairs.
Mill Street Gallery included the work of a number of local North Devon artists alongside Alice's, through temporary exhibitions and permanent collections, in this working gallery and studio. A colourful and approachable gallery space with an eclectic mix of emerging, professional and amateur artists. The Gallery was also nominated for and reached the finals of Muddy Stilettos 'Best Art Space' in Devon.
Alice's work shows vibrant and often tropical collages, demonstrating a colourful and striking style of illustration, alongside skillfully painted portraits. Using a range of media including acrylic, oil, and collage. Having a multidisciplinary approach has allowed her to keep ideas flowing and to explore a variety of concepts. Flowers and colour feature heavily in Alice's work, especially through her watercolour collages and often following tropical themes. Inspiration has come from the flowers and plants growing around her whilst living and working in Dubai and more recently from the gardens and walks around the north Devon countryside.
Alice is available for commissions. If you would like to discuss any ideas or make an appointment for a studio visit, please get in touch at firstname.lastname@example.org
